Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in Australia 1954
A photograph from the Australian Royal tour in 1954. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip can be seen standing on the back of a moving vehicle. The Queen accessorizes her outfit with gloves, a string of pearls and a hat.
The tour was heralded as a great success by British royal watchers and Australian monarchists alike. Australians fell in love with the young couple and the 8-week tour, stopping at 70 towns and cities, was documented in the film The Queen in Australia (1954)

A group of men with furled flags and horse march on a dirt road
A black and white image of a group of men carrying furled flags and dressed in period costume, marching along a dirt road in the country, during the 1987 Coo-ee Reenactment March. The group is marching over a slight rise toward the camera and is led by a man dressed in full World War 1 army uniform, leading a horse. The men are reenacting the original Coo-ee march where approximately 20 patriots left Gilgandra on October 10, 1915 and marched to Sydney to enlist in the war, gathering more than 250 recruits from other farming communities along the way. This image was shot while filming Coo-ee 1988
