Traditional Indian potters at work. Our Asian Neighbours - India

In the early morning two Indian potters are working outside preparing pots for a traditional firing. They are surrounded by pots in various stages of firing and a kiln. This image is taken from Village, The - A Village in Tanjore': A day in the lives of the people who live in the village of Thillaisthanam, Southern India, with a population of 1500. This village is the one examined thoroughly in the book Cast, Class and Power by Dr Andre Beteille. Village, The - A Village in Tanjore is part of the series Our Asian Neighbours - India 1977, that takes a personal look at the lives of a variety of individuals in India

A young woman hugs a seated man from behind in an office setting

A humorous, colour portrait of a bespectacled young woman in a bright blue jacket who is tightly hugging a seated man from behind, in an office setting. The man looks like he is fantasizing about something pleasant. Behind them is a bookcase full of reference books. This image was shot while filming Will the Great Barrier Reef cure Claude Clough? 1967: This bizarre little film takes the form of a psychiatric session, using the metaphor as a way to explore the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. When people on the street seem to be walking backwards or upside down, Claude Clough (Charles Little) seeks therapy. His psychoanalyst (June Thody) advises him to take a holiday and get back to basics. From the psychoanalyst's couch, Claude's journey begins, with the psychoanalyst playing the roles of flight attendant, beautiful local girl and mermaid. The result is a tourist film with a difference - including stunning footage of the Great Barrier Reef. A lighthearted parody of psychoanalysis with a decidedly 60s feel
