Traditional Indian potters at work. Our Asian Neighbours - India

In the early morning two Indian potters are working outside preparing pots for a traditional firing. They are surrounded by pots in various stages of firing and a kiln. This image is taken from The Village Economy - A Village in Tanjore': Mr Raghavachari own 20 acres of very productive paddy fields in the village of Thillaisthanam, Southern India. He employs many labourers who are not lucky enough to own their own land. He discusses the developments in the village rice industry, and the effects these have on the lives of the people.
